How to Set an NLP Anchor

Article by Sherri Haggard

Anchoring is a technique used in Neuro Linguistic Programming to achieve a certain states of mind. Anchoring is a technique that uses a stimulus that instantly brings about the intended state of mind you are seeking to achieve, such as higher levels of success or relaxed calmer states. Anchoring has many uses and many situations it can be used in.

What is an NLP anchor?

NLP Anchoring helps people get out of thinking wrong and terrible thoughts and helps them think better happier thoughts. This can help you on the job, on the road, or anywhere. Using more multi anchors can improve your state also.

How to set an anchor?

To set anchors you need to reach a state of mind where you were as happy and successful in your past as you ever have been. Could be sports getting married graduating anything in the past that really got you happy and excited. Now that you got that happy memory, you need to figure out how to trigger that same state of mind at will anytime you choose. Anchors can be visual (pictures), auditory (word/phrase), or feeling (gesture).

Remember the main factors in creating great states of mind.

Make sure you have a very clear idea of how you would like to be and behave in your mind. Think of experiences in the past when you felt great and really motivated to do something.

Once you have your anchor set, try it out see if the desire state comes out. If not do the visualization process all over again. You might have to change your anchor as this is how anchoring works sometimes.

Understanding Anchoring

If understood correctly:

· It will help you understand why people act the way they do.· Anchoring, if done correctly, can help one work out their personal problems with relationships, communications, and the work environment.· Anchoring can also help those with Psychological problems such as self-image, low self-esteem, or depression.

Anchoring is a very powerful tool if used correctly. It takes practice but once mastered can make the difference between living the life you dream and wishing you could.
